Trump Quietly Donates Entire Presidential Salary to Orphanage, Asks for Zero Credit
The 47th President reportedly slipped the check under the door at 3 a.m. to avoid media attention. It did not work.
WASHINGTON - In what White House aides are calling totally uncharacteristic and frankly suspicious, President Donald Trump quietly donated his entire presidential salary to St. Catherine's Home for Children in Alexandria, Virginia, then drove home, said nothing, and went to sleep.
He asked for absolutely no credit. The request was included in a handwritten note attached to the check. A second note clarified that he meant it. A third note provided contact information in case anyone insisted on making a statement.
"He told us not to tell anyone. Then he asked whether anyone had said anything yet." a senior White House official
A History of Reluctant Benevolence
This is not the first time Trump has donated presidential compensation. During his first term, he sent quarterly paychecks to federal agencies, a fact that became public through the stubborn persistence of press releases, televised remarks, and aides who seemed unable to remain silent for more than four to six hours.
What makes Monday night's donation unusual is the sincerity of the secrecy request. Sister Margaret Flannery, the orphanage's director, said the note sounded genuine and that the check had an eagle on it, which she described as very presidential.
Reaction Across the Aisle
Democrats reached for comment said they were reserving judgment pending review of the full context of the donation, which sources confirmed remained a check to an orphanage. One Senate office issued a statement calling the act welcome before clarifying that its actual position remained under consideration.
The orphanage plans to renovate its kitchen and purchase new beds. A small brass plaque reading Anonymous Donor - 2026 will be placed in the dining room. Trump has already asked whether the plaque could be made slightly larger.
